Jeremy Reilly

Owner

Jeremy was a golf pro for 25 years. He started personal training around 18 years ago, found CrossFit in 2015 and opened CrossFit Chiltern in 2016. He’s a father of two boys, aged 5 and 7, who train with him in the gym and invent their own workouts — which has shaped how he presents fitness to adults.

He most enjoys coaching people who arrive saying they aren’t sporty and then discover they just hadn’t found their sport. If someone is coachable and wants to improve, that’s all he asks.

“I’m not a natural athlete. I was the kid who had to work hard to be average at anything. Everything I can do in this gym came from hard work and trial and error.”

James MacDonald

Head Coach

James has been coaching for 16 years, starting at David Lloyd before becoming Head Coach of the university gym at Bucks New University. He got into CrossFit after googling how the actors trained for the film 300, then trained in his bedroom and garage with almost no equipment for nearly five years before he set foot in an affiliate.

He most enjoys coaching new members — watching what someone’s body turns out to be capable of, and the confidence that builds session by session.

“It doesn’t matter what point you’re starting at. Whether you have aspirations as a competitive athlete or you’re simply trying to keep up with the grandchildren, I can help you become a better version of yourself — and you’ll have fun along the way.”

Lauren Armstrong

Operations and Brand Manager, Coach

Lauren has been a personal trainer for four years and a CrossFit coach for just over one. As a deaf coach, she knows that everyone learns and communicates differently, and that shapes how she runs a class — adapting so every athlete feels supported and included.

She has lived in Amersham all her life apart from her time studying at the University of Central Lancashire. Outside the gym she travels, walks her dog and blasts music in the car.

“My job isn’t to judge where you’re at. It’s to help you enjoy the process, move safely and build confidence at your own pace. You don’t need to be fit to start — you just need to walk through the door.”

Sabrina Morim

Coach

Sabrina has been a personal trainer for 25 years and a CrossFit coach for 14. She’s originally from Brazil and a mum, and her spirituality keeps her grounded — she brings that same compassion and encouragement into every session.

She coaches people at every level, and rates nothing higher than watching a member realise they’re stronger than they thought.

“Everyone starts somewhere. Just show up, no matter how you feel. We’re here to adapt every workout to your level, make sure you feel safe, and help you enjoy the process.”

Ali Bird

Coach

Ali has been a member of CrossFit Chiltern for nearly ten years and has coached here part-time for eight. Her interest in health and fitness began 25 years ago with a BSc in Sports Rehabilitation; after a spell in a physiotherapy clinic she spent over ten years in corporate wellbeing at Nuffield Health.

When she isn’t coaching or taking PT sessions she’s in class, usually alongside friends she talked into joining. She’s relentless about movement standards, and what she enjoys most is helping people move well and pick up skills they didn’t think they had. Her favourite movement is double unders.

“I’m always happy to help, so if you see me around, don’t be shy. I promise I’m not as scary as I look.”

Taryn McCall

Coach

Taryn has coached at CrossFit Chiltern since March 2019. Before qualifying as a personal trainer and CrossFit coach she worked in marketing, events and executive support in the finance industry.

She most enjoys coaching people new to CrossFit — if they leave enlightened and elated, she counts it a win. She has always wanted to join the police force, and hasn’t ruled it out.

“I remember being in their shoes. There’s an awful lot to learn, but it’s very rewarding.”

Dr Amy George

Nutrition and Lifestyle Programme, Teens Coach

Amy started training at CrossFit Chiltern in 2018, bringing her daughter along to her PT sessions while the coaches plied her with snacks. She is a CrossFit coach and an HSN nutrition and lifestyle coach, and she is a GP.

She leads our Nutrition and Lifestyle Programme, working with members on food, habits and the long game, and coaches the Teens classes. What drives her is being a strong role model for her own children.

“Want to improve your relationship with food, fuel your body better, or help your family get healthier? Let’s chat.”

Kat Shaw

Coach

Kat competed in swimming at national level until she was 22. She found CrossFit through her partner’s military training and has coached at CrossFit Chiltern since January 2024. Outside the gym she works in research and development for an FMCG company.

Her own training leans towards the barbell and the erg. She’ll coach anyone willing to learn, whatever their ability, and she’s patient about how long progress takes.

“The best part of coaching is watching people surprise themselves — finishing tough workouts, making progress, and walking away with a smile.”

Beth Claridge

Marketing and Administration

Beth has been at CrossFit Chiltern for 16 months. Her background is music marketing and she still works with artists across release campaigns, publishing and management. She was introduced to CrossFit by her daughter, a British national level swimmer at Amersham Swim Club who has trained CrossFit for years to support her swimming. The whole family now trains here, her husband most recently.

Beth is one of the two people you’ll speak to when you book a Discovery Call.

“It’s great to reassure people that CrossFit is for everyone, whatever your fitness level or age. We’re a supportive group of like-minded people who want to push their fitness a little bit more — or just get started.”

Elliot Ayling

Coach

Elliot is a doctor and has been coaching for four months. He most enjoys working with people who are starting out with their health, and says the appeal of coaching is helping people improve rather than treating disease.

“CrossFit can look intimidating from the outside. Once you’re in — especially at CFC — you’ll find the most welcoming, kind and fun group of people you could imagine.”
